Our first product, McSweet Pickled Cocktail Onions, was launched in 1990, when martini buff, Leo McIntyre, perfected his special recipe. Leo had worked as a club, bar, and restaurant manager around the country in the late 1940s and 1950s, but was unable to locate sweet crunchy cocktail onions as he had remembered from his earlier years.
His efforts were quickly rewarded as McSweet gathered a cult following in local Seattle hotels and restaurants. He soon had a brisk mail order business as out-of-town visitors discovered his tasty onions. McSweet Pickled Garlic and McSweet Gourmet Olive Bliss were added to the mix in 2006.
